The confusion is easy to fall into and expensive to carry into a message. A duo advert tells you there will be two women.

A couples advert tells you the two are a woman and a man, and you would be joining them rather than booking two women — a different arrangement answering a different question, so see the couples adverts if that is the one you meant.

The two are also not the same women under two different words. Among the escorts advertising in Hong Kong who carry either word, well over a hundred carry duo and not couples, and about as many carry couples and not duo. Roughly two in five of each group does the one and refuses the other, which is a strong hint that they are not variations on a theme in the women's own minds either.

You are booking a pair, not two escorts you picked

A duo is almost always two women who already work together and often have for years: friends first, colleagues second, with a way of being in a room that neither of them has alone.

Two girls, a pair, twins in the rare cases where it is true: the wording varies and the arrangement does not. What you are booking is the pairing, and it comes as it is.

A shared way of working is the part you are actually paying for, and the part you cannot assemble. Writing to two women you liked separately and proposing that they meet you together is a different request with a much lower success rate, and it is fair to expect a no.

A duo does not come apart, either. If one of them is away, the booking is not half-available; it moves. Substituting a third woman because she happens to be free is the request most likely to be refused outright, and refused a little coldly, because it treats a working partnership as two interchangeable slots. Ask about the pair by both names, and treat their diary as one diary.

That figure usually comes out lower than two solo bookings added together, because a duo is priced as one booking with one address and one block of time, not as two services running side by side.

What the word still leaves open

Duo says two women and stops there. Whether they touch each other, and how much, is not in the word.

How far a duo goes between the two of them is theirs to state and yours to ask plainly, before length and before money. Some adverts settle it in advance by naming a threesome or a lesbian show; where neither word appears, the question is still open. You may also see the same idea written as FF, or as MFF where a site is also naming who else would be in the room — shorthand for the arrangement, not a different one. If a pair turns out not to be what you had in mind, the city's adverts are mostly one at a time, and every advert in Hong Kong sits behind that.
